A gargantuan disappointment

Trial of Arms
The Chronicle
Upon arrival in Krakow for a few days of tourism, it was time to experience a Krakow kebab. On the magical app which beckons food, Dian Kebab House came highly rated, at a reasonable price point, and with swift transport.
I typically call upon chicken as the main protein as it is easier to cook well and has a consistent flavor. Feeling adventurous, I decided to try beef and mixed sauce (spicy/garlic), a decision later met with deep regret. It was not spicy as such, but the combination of flavors did not sit well with me. A safe bet is always garlic and chicken but one must try on occasion what is listed as ‘popular’ among the masses, even when the masses are wrong.
The ingredients, hard to separate mentally and with taste, appeared to be fine by themselves. When mixed together, however, they simply don’t play well together. The beef was tender and juicy, and the juices mixed with the sauces and warm vegetables left much to be desired. This is the opposite experience to that of poultry; kebab chicken is rarely juicy or tender. It can sit inside the wrap and not further alter the flavor- it’s consistent. I was hopeful that beef and mixed sauce could create a positive new experience and open up the doors to new options… but alas I remain skeptical.
One other point of contention was that there were too many vegetables, and no sane person likes hot and soggy vegetables. If any bite consists of 100% warm vegetables, especially at this temperature, it’s a bite worth throwing out.
While the taste for me wasn’t there, the amount of food I received for about $19 could have fed a family of four which is a good bargain. The towering kebab was roughly 44 cm (17.3 inches), and the large fry was quite sizeable as well. A note on fries would be to cut a whole in the packaging so the steam doesn’t create condensation which renders the fries soggy and wet.
Quite disappointed with this one and would not recommend, but I recognize that one taste is not necessarily indicative of the final verdict. However, this experience didn’t sit right with me… beef and mixed sauce or not.
