Trial of Arms
The Chronicle
A brother in arms joined the hunt today for midday combat. He braved the large mixed-sauce chicken wrap, and I had the medium garlic with friend-onions chicken wrap. Caught off guard, the sizes were roughly the same. My comrade felt somewhat cheated for the dollar extra he paid, and even though it’s just a dollar, he was probably justified in his criticism.
After a long night of tavern hopping on the main strip, we see our peers surrounding this kebab shop as it’s dimly illuminated and has ample outdoor space to chat. During lunch time, we were the only patrons on a nice and sunny day. Part of our quest was to take the kebab back to the center in which we co-work to feast. The wrap came wrapped in foil and wax paper. Breaking the seal, a pleasant aroma filled my immediate area with another co-worker commenting positively.
Pleasantries aside, the first bite was outstanding. Juices flowed, chicken ripped, and mouth satiated. Halfway down the towering kebab (surprisingly large for a medium size) I noticed a dark transparent spot on the bread- it was practically bathed in oil and juices which wasn’t typical of the recent kebabs I’ve had but was a nice surprise. It added more depth to the bread. Additionally, the fried onion bits were an exceptional surprise- it certainly changed the flavor but in a positive light.
For the price, 26 zloty (7 usd), the value is simply too hard to ignore. It’s a full meal for me and two for more agile combatants. The wrap was heavy with limited hollow space. The taste was flavorful. The golden ratio was purposefully prepared at the counter absent haste.
This was a meaningful and memorable quest, one worth pursuing again, especially when on a budget.
