Trial of Arms
The Chronicle
A brother-in-arms recommended Kebab Spot to me for a daring quest. It was the best kebab I’ve had in very recent memory. Everything was great. Not perfect, but great. The bread certainly stood out. Handmade lavash is always the way to go. It’s worth the extra effort (if any kebab establishments are reading this). Bonus points if making in visibly in the shop window or at least at the order counter. This feature has made average kebabs stand out among a field of average kebabs. Some kebab shops have stolen business from other shops due to this activity alone.
Unfortunately, this was ordered on a day when they somehow ran out of the coveted chicken meat - maybe this is a sign to focus more on poultry? Because of this, I ordered “Wolowo Baranie” which is a mix of beef and lamb which is not the typical order for me. I nearly abandoned this quest to search for chicken options, but I am glad I persisted to the battlefield. I chose garlic sauce as the base, with additional chipotle sauce added to the concoction. I was expecting a fair mix of both, not double, so the sauce was on the heavier side. Regardless, the sauce was satiating the senses and paired well with the other ingredients.
The lavash was lightly toasted, handmade, and sturdy enough to weather the battle while being brittle enough to rip and tear when necessary. The heft was on the thinner side, but for the cost it was plentiful.
This was a surprising entry and one that matched expectations which is rarely the case. Going into battle arrogant of any outcome is typically met with defeat.
I enjoyed this quest so much that I have decided to embark on it a second time before leaving the wonderful city of Lodz to head to Tbilisi, Georgia for my next conquest.
